 Trades
The Kansas Hawken Rifle is now hiring for the following positions:
  • Apothecary (pharmacist)
  • Barber
  • Bookbinder
  • Breeches maker
  • Brick maker
  • Blacksmith
  • Cabinet maker
  • Carpenter – Joiner
  • Chandler (candle maker)
  • Coach maker
  • Cooper (makes/repairs wooden barrels & tubs)
  • Cutler (makes, sells, & repairs knives &  scissors)
  • Farrier (shoes horses)
  • Goldsmith (banker)
  • Gunsmith
  • Hatter (makes, sells, & repairs hats)
  • Leather Dresser
  • Mantua maker (dressmaker)
  • Merchant ( travels around selling trade wears )
  • Milliner (makes, trims, designs, or sells hats)
  • Music Teacher
  • Printer (published newspaper, sold books and materials, served as postmaster)
  • Rope maker
  • Saddler (makes, sells, or repairs equipment for horses)
  • Scrimshaw (tooled art or maps on powder horns)
  • Shoemaker (make or repair shoes)
  • Silversmith (makes, repairs, or re-plates articles of silver)
  • Tanner ( tans animal hides )
  • Tavern Keeper
  • Tinsmith ( makes cups, bowls, plates and canteens out of tin )
  • Weaver (rug maker and sashes)
  • Wheelwright (made wheels and carts)
  • Wigmaker

No experience necessary, but you must meet the following qualifications:

Boys

  • Complete one additional step in advancement, or earn the GMA.

Leaders

  • Tutor a boy into FCF

Both Boys and Leaders

  • Participate in at least one FCF Adventure and be an active member in your chapter for 1 year.
  • Make or purchase a complete FCF outfit and wear it at FCF functions.
  • Recite from memory the FCF pledge
  • Explain the meaning of the FCF symbol
  • State the purpose of FCF
  • Make an FCF identification staff
  • Select a frontier related craft or skill to develop
  • Select an FCF name for himself
  • Pay the yearly dues set by the chapter
  • All interested parties should contact your Buckskin representative
